Trying out the Journal Skins

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 9, 2009, 3:19 PM
I thought I would give the Journal skins a test run since they are free for now.

This skin is by =00alisa00 who makes not only cool skins, but also nice graphics.  You should take a look: [link]

My collection of DeviantART user icons has grown to over 72,000 images.  Although far short of the over million uses on DeviantART, it is getting harder to manage.  I have tried my best to remove duplicate images... but even with applications to help, it is hard to sort through this many images.  Due to the limits to the size of a submission, I needed to break up the collection into several zip files.  This last increase in icons has required that I add an additional zip file.

I use these for photomosaics, but I would bet there are a lot of creative folks here on DeviantART who could come up with some more interesting uses.

Does anyone know how to set the DeviantID?  When I try and edit it, the drop down list is empty and it says none selected.

I use a home grown app to generate my wallpapers.  So creating a wallpaper from a source image is very easy.  If anyone would like to have an image rendered in Legos, square tiles, cross stitch, mosaic tiles, layered Poloroids, stacked or as photo mosaic, then send me a message with a link to an image and I will post the results.  You can see examples of these in my gallery.

Hi,

Most of my images are auto-generated from a shell script that I have been playing with since 1991.  It started as just a simple script to randomly pick different back ground images for my Unix workstation but grew as I added other "hacks" to modify the images.  The script is now about 6000 lines plus many separate helper programs.  It calls into metapixel, The Gimp, netpbm, ImageMagick, PovRay and others to make the wallpapers.  Sometimes the resulting wallpaper looks bad... but many times it turns out OK.

Until I found deviantART, it was just for my entertainment.  What you see posted here are generated wallpaper that I thought turned out well. Otherwise they would have been deleted when the next auto-generated wallpaper was created.
