Palin photomosaic by drsparc Palin photomosaic by drsparc
Auto-generated wallpaper. Sarah Palin vice presidential candidate for the Republican party rendered as a photo mosaic. I used my full collection of images (~141000) for this and there should be no repeated images. I used metapixel to generate the image.

This is one of 4 in a series to show all of the president and vice president candidates.

Obama: [link]
Biden: [link]
Mccain: [link]

Note: I regenerated this image as I found some offensive images in the small image collection.

9/22/08:
I had more complaints about more of the images I got from Digg icons. So I stopped using them with the rest of my set and regenerated this image. That was a lot of my set as there were over 90K images in the Digg set which brought my small image collection down to only about 50K. As a comparison, I will also generate Digg icon only versions of the candidate images as well.

Due to the lower number of images, I reduced the size of the image used from 28 to 24 pixels.

Thanks! I made one for Obama, Biden and McCain too. I was more into the election than any of the candidates.

The Afghan girl? As in the one with bright eyes that was on the cover of National Geographic? I do have that one in my image collection so it would be possible. I don't see her in there though.

BTW, if you don't like Palin, but like photomosacis, I do have others at [link]

John's speech was awesome... with a lot of class. It was the real McCain speaking.

Sarah isn't going away. Think Palin 2012!

I took note of the 'classy' crowd that was still booing when Obamas name was mentioned at McCains concession speech, in contrast to the applause that both McCain and Palin recieved from the Obama supporters.
I'm thinking Obama 2012!!

Ditto... but I think Palin will be running (at least in the primary) in 2012 for the Republican ticket.

BTW, cut them a break... it was a sad moment for them. It is time to move on and work together. It has been a long time since we really has a united country.

I agree with you completely! (Though it is very difficult for me to dismiss some of the things palin said during her speeches. To me, she is still the personification of every ignorant and ugly thing about Christian extremism and jingoism.)
Understand, we will/might still have differences, but the way those differences have been expressed by the likes of O'Rielly and Coulter, Palin, and Fox in particular has set us against each other.
These people declared some sort of 'culture war', that exists only in their heads, and we have been playing their game for far too long.
We can still disagree without being disrepectful, rude, or hostile. And maybe, just maybe, we can pull our country back from all the idiocy the extremists (on BOTH sides, I'll admit) have pulled us into.
If we really are the greatest nation on earth, then lets lead by example, not brutality.

And the election (and Fox ratings) prove that people aren't buying the "hate thing" any more. Oboma is a moderate... not extreme left. He has been colm and respectful during the whole campaign and that is what has been attractive to the majority of Americans. The days of Rove are over... it is time to get everyone together to work on our common problems.

So I say, forgive Palin. Forgive O'Reilly. Forgive Coulter. If they want to keep on yelling then they will look all the more pathetic for it.

One exception. I still think Bush and Chenney need to be held trial for their war crimes. I mean, hate talk can be forgiven... but having thousands of people killed needs to be answered for.

Thanks! I'm working on gathering deviantART user icons to make a nice collection of source images for a follow-up to this presidential candidate collection. I'm up to 20K so far... that should make for a nice photo mosaic. I was thinking of making an image of the new president and VP together after the election next week.

What I really want to do is post the collection of source images of our icons back here so anyone can use them. But I don't think I can post a zip file that large.

My DeviantART user icon collection is up to over 50,000 images. I used it for a Phillies tribute for winning the world series. I also posted the image collection in my scrapbook so others could use them to make photo mosaics if they like.

According to Wikipedia, there are over 8 million of us on DeviantART... so my 50,000 is only small fraction of us. Also, many of the users have several icons in the collection as their animated GIFs were sliced into separate images.

There has to be other creative uses for gobs of small, but interesting, square images than making photo mosaics.

BYW, the winner image can be found [link]

Thanks! I will be regenerating this today. It turns out that some of the images I used in my small image collection from Digg user icons were offensive. I cleaned up the collection the best I could and will be posting an update to this image.

It has already been updated. It doesn't look much different. To be honest, I didn't know if there were any of the offending images in this one. But someone pointed out one that ended up in the Obama image and I thought I would regenerate all of them to be safe once the collection was cleaned up.

Yeah, I don't really see the difference, I figured the only offending images were the middle finger and the satanic symbols, but they're still there in the image.

The images I removed were nudes. But I certainly see why you would say those were offensive too. Maybe I should just not use the Digg icons and limit my photo mosaics to my own images where I know their not too offensive.
